How does cellulite laser treatment work?


The laser is a minimally invasive medical device used to treat cellulite. Unlike standard liposuction and fat grafting, cellulite lasers take a multi-dimensional approach, targeting the causes of cellulite beneath the skin.


First, the laser heats and disrupts the pockets of uneven fat under the skin. Next, the laser releases the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin and cause dimpling and unevenness. The laser fully releases these tethered bands (similar to a rubber band under tension), allowing the skin to bounce back and become smoother. Finally, the laser energy stimulates collagen production, which increases skin thickness and elasticity in the months following treatment.


By addressing all causes of cellulite, a laser treatment approach reduces the appearance of skin dimpling while creating healthier looking, thicker skin with long-lasting results.


What should I expect during treatment?


Laser cellulite treatment is performed on an outpatient basis in our office. A local anesthetic is used to ensure patient comfort. During the procedure, the laser will be introduced by a few tiny incisions.


Most patients are back to work and normal activities in a day or two.


You may have mild bruising and swelling for a week after your procedure, and a compression garment may be recommended during the healing process.


What kind of results should I expect?


You will be able to see results immediately after just one treatment, along with continual improvements for up to a year. Patients should maintain a healthy diet and exercise habits to maximize results.
